Re: BandWidth Speed Test

PureBytes Links

Trading Reference Links

I just tried this and it showed a speed of a bit less than 56Kbps - but I'm
on cable at around 4 to 6 Mbps.

I read their explanation of why one's "measured" speed might be less than
the quoted speed of one's ISP and their explanation is right on the mark
(the bottleneck may be elsewhere). For example, I ran tracert on their
server; the results: it wound through several servers in San Francisco and
Seattle before reaching a MSFT node and after that EVERY request timed out.
It quit after thirty hops.

SOOOO, I hope no one attaches much significance to the results of this
"bandwidth test" - it tells you absolutely nothing about the actual speed of
YOUR connection to the net.

Carroll
