Is IE or WebBrowser object secure?

Here is a technical question:

One can access the Web within VB, VC, TradeStation,
TradeWare(?), QChart etc etc through presumably
the MFC's IE or
WebBrowser object.  Many beginning MFC books did not
mention the security issue.  And I am wondering if
it is secure to use it to access my bank or brokerage
accounts???
