Gil:
The DTN box can send data to your serial port at a max rate of 460800bps.
This setting is independent of the speed at which the satellite transmitts
data to your dish which I think is 115k. If you are getting overflows at
the DTN box (check yours as per menu sequence I posted yesterday) you need a
fast serial card since the built-in serial ports can only accept data at a
max of 115k. I recomd the T/E Port920 from Turbocom.com because it comes
with its own drivers that replace the Win95/98 drivers and allow the card to
accept data at up to 920kbps. But the card should be set to 460k to match
the DTN box. I am collecting all stocks and indices 18,000+ symbols and the
data is coming into my serial port at max bursts of about 250kbps. This is
almost double the 115K speed of the built in comm port and that is why I was
loosing 50% of the ticks.
So check your overflow readings and if you have any at all get a fast serial
card or you will not get all the ticks.
