Surprised to hear about DTN satellite problems.
I am collecting every tick including bid/ask on 18,000+ equity and index
symbols with DTN satellite and TS2k global server with no problems. Computer
is Dell 450mhz P11, 256mb ram, 16750 UART set to 460k, Win98.
DTN prices,bid/ask and volume are true real time and match my broker's ADP
datafeed. My buddy back in NJ on BMI cable is behind me several minutes on
prices and bid/ask and way off on number of ticks and volume. The hotter
the market the further behind me he is.
I have used Signal, BMI and S&P Comstock, all satellite. Signal and BMI are
garbage. Comstock has good equity and index data but had many unsolvable
incompatibilities with TS4 so I had to quit. I do not watch futures but
assume DTN does this right too since thats where they started.
Note however that I installed a high speed serial card and upped the baud
rate from 115k to 460k. Before this change I was dropping millions of
ticks.
Also there are problems with DTN and TS2k. News is not supported. Quote
Monitor does not report correct intraday or end of day volume. Hopefully
this will be fixed by SP2 due out soon.
