This is very different than the experience I've had with Datek. In fact,
I've found that in some cases if I move thru the screens quickly, the
"executed" time is sometimes several seconds BEFORE the "entered" time. I
would say that 85-90% of my orders filled within 10 seconds if the market
didn't trade away from me and on those rare occassions when an order took
more than 60 seconds, the computer automatically gave it to me
commission-free. I didn't even have to call a rep.
Here's a tip: keep your password in the Windows clipboard so you can hit
Ctrl-V to paste it in. And don't sit on the confirmation screen for a long
time. Setup the first screen, wait for your entry, hit GO, Ctrl-V password,
GO.
Also, I've heard good reviews for a "front-end" that someone wrote for Datek
called "GunSlinger" or "DaSlinger", something like that. Search the web.
I've made numerous newbie mistakes on Datek and I don't feel that I've ever
gotten screwed by anything they did.

Experience suggests otherwise. One has to type in the order, then send it,
then fill in the super-secret password, then wait while that goes through.
20
minutes to get a market order filled?? I don't recall ever seeing a fill in
less than 30 seconds and most of the time longer than that... if you're
doing
it, great, but we never could get it to work that way.
