Re: Data loss in TS 4.0 - why?!

PureBytes Links

Trading Reference Links

i'm wondering if Frank Bacon would be willing to sell tlink on an
unsupported basis? the damn thing is pretty simple to use and
practically runs itself. i think that it's indispensable for those
running win95/98 os's.

i used the tlink monitor with a ts4/bmi combo and i never experienced
problems with the ts4 server processing upwards of 500 futures and
index symbols. that is, until bmi started dicking around with the feed
after the bird failure last year. then the number of mb of transmitted
data tripled from a weekly average of 450mb to 1200mb. that's when i
experienced severe problems in lost ticks across all symbols as
documented by the tlink monitor.

the easiest solution may be to cut back on the number of exchanges bmi
transmits to you. if one trades futures only, then get only the futures
exchanges that are important to your trading. then the flood of
generally worthless stock and option data would be eliminated by not
overwhelming the serial port, thus improving tick processing by the ts4
server.

fwiw, i stay with bmi because they're one of the very few vendors that
transmits 24 hr symbols, especially for the s&p. when they dump that
feature, i'm out the door.

hey mark, hurry up and get traderware out your door, ok???

Doesn't matter how fast the board is to us, but how much data the board
can store, if the software isn't accepting data. Loss of the
Tport-Tlink
combo really hurts.

What I can't figure out is how BMI users could ever manage! My
understanding is that BMI throws everything from the subscribed
exchanges at the serial port
