In the off-line server, you need to copy-out all the Symbols that you want
to keep-- specifying the date ranges that you want to retain for both Tick
and Daily data. Best to do this in small batches and save to several files.
You need a fair amount of free hard-drive space, since TS writes the files
in an expanded format before compressing them. If you try to copy-out too
many Symbols simultaneously, for the amount of disk space that you have
available, the process could run for hours-- then abort when it runs out of
space without producing anything.
Once you have everything out that you want to keep, I suggest renaming all
files starting with "40BONN" (assuming you're using BMI) in the
\OMEGA\SERVER\BTC directory, then moving them to another location--
preferably on a different hard-drive if you have the space available.
In the Off-line server, Paste-in the data from the files that you created
with the copy-out operation. If all goes well, you will have new database
files that are much smaller. After you're sure that everything is working
OK, you can delete the old renamed BONN files.
If you run into problems and the result is not what you expected, you can
delete your new BONN files, rename the old BONN files back to their original
names and place them back in the proper directory-- then start over if you
want to.
