When considering the purchase of used software, be sure to a) get the
specific version and b) ask the company which produced the software what the
costs and requirements are to legally transfer the software, also to upgrade
to current version. Some software is not transferable (e.g. Omega), some
developers permit transfer but charge a significant fee, and some charge a
very nominal fee (e.g. Equis). Those firms which do permit transfer, usually
have a very specific procedure which must be followed.
Omega has stated that they will only provide to Y2K patch to legal license
holders.
