I use AIQ real-time as a backup for TS. Your comments below are accurate
BUT:
1. All the indicators are canned.
2. The RT component of the package is totally internet based - so when you
log off - poof - there goes all your intraday chart data. Also, as a RT
user, your left at the mercy of the employees at TrackData who decide how
much (or little) intraday data they'll post on the server (they never post
more than 5 days in any case).
3. The literature at AIQ says that DBC and certain other vendors can be used
with AIQ, however, the reality is that being a subsidiary of
TrakData/DialData they are VERY reluctant to tell you how to set that up and
imply that there will be additional charges if you want to change data
vendors.
4. Yes, you can do custom indicators but it is a real pain - AIQ has none of
the built in fxns that we all take for granted in TS - things like standard
deviation, weighted moving average, and true range just aren't there. You
get to did out the books and code them up yourself. Then, next week, you can
start on the indicator that you really wanted to create in the first place.
Bottom Line: I am satisfied with AIQ; I use it within the envelope of its
limitations. But it ain't no TradeStation.
