At one time, John Bonin (still around?) was selling a set of tools, Trader's Talking Toolbox, that allowed just this kind of thing for TradeStation 4.0. It even had a video tape showing you how to add it to your charts and use it. Not sure of the status of this product now, since we haven't heard from John in a long time.
I believe that you have to be just a little careful when adding the playing of wave files. For example, if you have a condition that makes the wave file play, and the condition is true for every bar when you load a chart, the wave file will play over and over and over... Same if it happens with new real-time ticks coming in.
There was some concern expressed some time ago about whether such wave file playing would interfere with data collection, so you might worry about that.
Anyway, sounds like fun to be working in the back yard and know what's going on in the markets.
