Subject: Off Subject - Omega Super Charts EOD and Win 98
Dear All
Sorry to be off subject, but as some members use Omega Super Charts they
should be aware that there is a grave problem with Win 98, and if this
e-mail stops even one member hours of grief (and posssibly lost data) it
is worth it!
I bought a new 500 mb computer yesterday and was loading all my software.
When I got to SuperCharts, on selecting 'Setup' it crashed, having first
inserted its logo and a shortcut everywhere that an icon appeared (even,
eg, in 'My Computer' so the C, D etc drives were inaccessible), and all
the shortcuts obviously led nowhere! Eventually the advice was to revert
to factory settings and start again.
I have contacted Omega who confirm that it is a known problem and that the
fix is:-
Start - Programs - Accessories - System Tools - System Information - Tools
- System Configuration Utility
In System Configuration Utility select the Startup Tab and deselect (ie
uncheck) everything. Restart the computer.
Load Omega in the normal way.
Restart the Computer and then repeat all the above but this time obviously
select (recheck) everything and restart again. You should be O.K.
