Just a note for people who may start seeing the "blue screen" (i.e. fatal
Exception Error, etc.) -- This problem started on my TS machine a few weeks
ago -- first, only occasionally, and it was sometimes possible to continue
running. As days went by, it got worse. Eventually my primary hard-drive
was getting read-write errors then it disappeared from the system resources
altogether-- obviously a catastrophic crash.

Prior to the blue-screens appearing, TradeStation would occasionally produce
an error screen-- offering options to "Ignore" the error or "Close" the
program. Sometimes it was possible to ignore and continue, sometimes not.

After much trouble shooting without any conclusive results, I was poking
around inside the box-- re-seating cards, chips connectors, etc. when I
noticed that the fan on top of the CPU had stopped running. I touched the
heat-sink under the fan and it was VERY hot.

I was able to get a replacement fan for $15 and that fixed the problem! The
fan had been failing gradually for several weeks and caused processing
errors in the CPU chip as the heat increased. Fortunately, the CPU does not
appear to be permanently damaged, but it could have been if I had not found
the problem sooner.

It took 3 days to re-install Windows, TS, and additional software and it
will probably be weeks before the machine is returned to its former
operational state.

Moral of the story: If you see blue screens or start seeing unusual error
messages-- check the CPU Fan!
