Subject: Who would be interested in ? (Free feeds, PDT, statistical analysis, etc.)
Hello folks,
To make the long story short, this is a poll for active traders who
would be interested to see a low cost alternative and enhancement to
TradeStation and other analytical packages such as MetaStock, Advanced GET,
etc. This is not an advertisiment to sell anything. We are simply looking
whether there is a market for something that is innovative and that can
benefit everyone.
Our company is heavily involved in market analysis and custom
software development for all kinds of market related purposes and we
have the capability to create a relatively cheap software that will
work with low cost (or even free) real time and historical datafeeds.
Such software will have all the useful features afforded by current products
on the market plus more. We don't intent to include "more" as a gimmick
as it will simply depend on what you, traders, want. "More" is what this
software is all about as it will be developed according to your needs at
the lowest possible cost.
One of the major advantages of such software is that it will
utilize Datek's real time quote feed (Datek customers may be familiar with
Streamer that provides realtime streaming quotes for no charge). Compare
that to paying $200+ every month to Signal or BMI to feed your Tradestation.
The software will also use PCQuote or any other compatible TalTrade feed
which can be obtained $75.00/mo (basic feed). In addition, as more free data
vendors appear (and doubtless, they will) we will provide for their
protocols in the software.
Now, the cheap data feed is by no means the most advantageous feature.
The software will be portable to any platform (Unix people will be happy
to hear this) as all of its components are being written in Java. In addition,
programming-savvy people will be able to utilize Java's full capacity
for data analysis. E.g., they will be able to write your own routines for
analysis, graphing, notifications, backtesting, staistics, etc. This is much
more effective than using TradeStation's EasyLanguage or other means of
describing trading ideas. Of course we realize that learning a full-blown
language may be outside of most traders' scope and thus we will provide a
watered down interface to Java similar to EasyLanguage.
Now, this is not all, as we will also offer a module that can
automatically place orders with some Internet brokerages based on long/short
calls made by the software. This may be a risky feature, but we can see
many traders welcoming it. Process Driven Trading (PDT) is currently
available to instituions only and now we can bring it to the professional
market of individual traders.
Finally, for those who would like to enhance the software we can
provide the source code to the entire package. None, and we repeat, none
of the current vendors can afford to make such offer.
We feel that the above features are completely new to the professional
market and they alone should raise some interest among the traders. Of course,
all the usual features expected from such software will also be available.
Moreoever, this software is currently under development and is far from
production release. Thus we will be more than happy to hear of any features
that you would like to see implemented.
Tentative pricing for the software is targeted to be as follows:
----------------------------------------------------------------
Basic package (includes everything except for trading module
and source code): $599.00
Trading Module: $299.00
Source code for all of the above: $1499.00
Also, custom programming services will be made available.
There is a lot more, but we'd like to keep this announcement short.
If we get enough interest in our software, more details will follow. We
would like to hear what you, active traders, need from a software package
such as this or whether you are completely satisfied with what is
currently available and feel that yet another analytical package has no
place in this market. We are very open to constructive suggestions and will
do our best to meet your demands.
Please send all feedback to mitch@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx or simply post
a response below.
Many thanks!
Sincerely,
