Dear List Members and Mr. Abell:

For the last several days, Howard Abell has selfishly promoted Rand
Financial Services. Given the fact that Mr. Abell is registered with the
National Futures Association as an Associated Person of Rand Financial (yes,
I just checked), I think it's inappropriate for him to promote himself and
his company on a discussion group such as this.

I happen to be a principal of XPRESSTRADE here in Chicago, and I enjoy the
discussion group, because it help me to keep my finger on the pulse of the
trading community. We think we have a pretty technologically-advanced
brokerage company, but I never, ever mention anything about XPRESSTRADE on
this list. I also happen to know that several of my futures industry
colleagues at other brokerage firms (Lind-Waldock, Jack Carl, Interactive
Brokers, etc.) also monitor several discussion groups for the same reason.
Most of avoid promoting our companies on these lists, because, quite simply
these lists aren't designed for us--rather, the lists are designed for
traders--and there really isn't a place for crass commercialism in such
discussion groups.

I object to Mr. Abell's style, and I hope other list members will agree.
Perhaps I'm reacting a bit too negatively. However, if self-promotion is
tolerated on this list, and we all begin to engage in that sort of behavior,
this list will quickly become nothing more than junk mail, and that would be
unfortunate.

Sincerely,

Dan O'Neil, Principal
