I have a copy of "Profits in the Stock Market" by H.M. Gartley (1935). He
lists references for the subject matter in each chapter. In the chapter for
point and figure charting there are two books by de Villiers listed: "The
Point and Figure Method" (1933) and "Advanced Theory and Practice of the
Point and Figure Method" (1933). Two of the earliest ones mentioned are
"The Game in Wall Street, and How to Play It Successfully" (1898) by
"Hoyle"(this is how it is actually referenced) and "Chart Method and
Trading System" (1904) by Joseph M. Klein. I hope that you find this
