IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT REGARDING BMI DATAFEED CHANGES
BMI is in the process of changing the source of their data for equities,
options and indices from a third-party provider to direct exchange feeds.
This transition is scheduled to take place on November 30th. The reason for
this is so that BMI will have greater control over the accuracy and
timeliness of the data they broadcast.
The following changes will take place. Below each change is a brief
overview of what will have to be done in our software to allow data to be
collected, stored and viewed properly. Detailed, step-by-step instructions
follow each overview.
1. Due to a recently announced NASDAQ requirement, all Bulletin Board
(BB) and Over the Counter (OTC) stocks are required to be displayed with the
appropriate exchange indicator (i.e. a Bulletin Board issue such as AACA now
needs to be entered as AACA-BB). If you are unsure if the stocks you follow
fall into these categories, you can refer to the following site for
assistance: <http://www.otcbb.com> www.otcbb.com or simply re-enter the
symbol with both a -BB and a -OT extension and see which one updates with
the correct data. The symbols for all common stocks, preferred, warrants,
etc. remain unchanged.
* In the Omega Research Offline Data Server for BMI, all OTC and BB
stock symbols will have to be renamed in the symbol portfolio. SuperCharts
RT/TradeStation will have to be closed during this process.
1. After market hours, close all running programs.
2. Start the Offline Data Server for BMI.
3. Click on FILE - PORTFOLIO from the Server main menu.
4. Highlight one of the affected symbols and click on RENAME.
5. Enter the same symbol name in the "New Symbol Name" field followed
by the appropriate extension and click OK. For example, AACA will be
renamed as AACA-BB.
6. Repeat these steps for all other affected symbols. When finished,
close the symbol portfolio.
* Once all the symbols in the portfolio are renamed, all charts and
quote windows will have to be changed from the old symbol to the new symbol
in SuperCharts RT or TradeStation.
1. Start SuperCharts RT/TradeStation. Open the workspaces that contain
charts or quote windows containing the affected symbols. You will receive a
pop-up dialog warning you that the symbol/s is not listed in the portfolio
and you will be taken to the server dialog. Click OK on the warning and
return to the charting application.
2. For charts, simply click anywhere within the chart, then click
FORMAT - PRICE DATA. Click on the PRICE DATA tab. Select the new symbol and
click OK.
3. For quote windows, simply click on the existing symbol with the
cursor, delete the symbol and then type in the new symbol name and press
ENTER on the keyboard.
4. Save the workspaces that were changed (FILE - SAVE WORKSPACE from
the menu).
2. We will no longer support specific regional data on equities. All
trading data will now be solely "composite" and represent activity across
all regional exchanges.
* In the Omega Server Offline Data Server for BMI, all equity symbols
that are set to receive data from a specific exchange only using the
Exchange Traded Filter will have to be reset to receive data from "All US
Exchanges". Note: "All US Exchanges" is the default filter. Unless you have
specifically changed this using the Rename button in the portfolio, no
action will be required.
1. After market hours, close all running programs.
2. Start the Offline Data Server for BMI.
3. Click on FILE - PORTFOLIO from the Server main menu.
4. Highlight one of the affected symbols and click on RENAME.
5. In the "New Exchange Filter" drop-down menu, select the option
"ALLUS - All U.S. Exchanges" and click OK.
6. Repeat these steps for all other affected symbols. When finished,
close the symbol portfolio.
3. The list of supported indices and market indicators will be
impacted. Some of the previously supported indices will no longer be
available, while new, previously unavailable indices, will be added to the
list. Please <http://cbs.marketwatch.com/data/lookup.htx?source=htx/dbc>
click here for the updated list on DBC's web site.
* The indices and market indicators that have been discontinued will
no longer receive data. They may be removed from charts and quote windows in
SuperCharts RT or TradeStation and then deleted from the symbol portfolio if
desired.
1. Start SuperCharts RT/TradeStation. Open the workspaces that contain
charts or quote windows containing the affected symbols.
2. For charts, simply click anywhere within the chart, then click FILE
- DELETE WINDOW. Confirm the deletion of the window. Alternately, you may
change the chart to a different symbol. Simply click anywhere within the
chart, then click FORMAT - PRICE DATA. Click on the PRICE DATA tab. Select
the new symbol and click OK.
3. For quote windows, right click on the symbol and click DELETE from
the pop-up menu. Alternately, you may change the symbol. Simply click on
the existing symbol with the cursor, delete the symbol and then type in the
new symbol and press ENTER on the keyboard.
4. Save the workspaces that were changed (FILE - SAVE WORKSPACE from
the menu).
5. Switch to the Omega Data Server for BMI.
6. Click on FILE - PORTFOLIO.
7. Highlight the affected symbol(s) and click DELETE. This will remove
the symbol and all stored data. Note: If you want to save the previously
stored data use the File - Copy Out menu sequence to copy your data to a
file.
* Newly-added indices and market indicators will have to be added to
the Symbol Universe and then the portfolio.
1. Obtain the settings for the new symbols, such as the exchange, the
session times and price scale. This information can usually be obtained from
the exchange's web site.
2. Follow the instructions starting on page 157 (Chapter 5) of the
Omega Research Server User's Manual to add the symbol to the Symbol
Universe.
3. Once the symbol is in the Universe, follow the instructions starting
on page 39 (Chapter 3) of the Omega Research Server User's Manual to add the
symbols to the portfolio.
4. Symbols correctly added to the portfolio can now be used to create
charts or quote windows in SuperCharts RT or TradeStation.
4. Corporate Bonds will no longer be available.
* These symbols will no longer collect data. They may be removed from
charts and quote windows in SuperCharts RT or TradeStation and then deleted
from the symbol portfolio if desired.
Note: If you want to save the previously
stored data use the File - Copy Out menu sequence to copy your data to a
file.
