Tim,

I've been on this List for a couple of years. I can sympathize with the
intent of your message but can't agree with your conclusions. Seven or
eight posts by people who have never posted before-- maybe! -- But what
about the 50 to 100 or more bashing posts --using the same old time-worn
profane rantings-- condemning someone who may or may not have actually
intended to contribute something of value? This is the true source of
noise on the List.

The closet Vendor masquerading as an anti-spam crusader that you refer to,
was booted from the List many months ago for his well-known disruptive
activities. The List survived just fine and even thrived during the period
with many people actually being helpful to others without the fear of a
froth-mouthed pit-bull roaring out of the shadows to lock onto the jugular
of someone whom he thought might be impinging on what he perceives to be his
own little fiefdom.

I don't know anything about the alleged Bond trading Manual that ignited
this last round of bashing, but I have traded Bonds and trained others how
to trade and I know that it certainly can be done. If it is perceived by
some as spamming, it can easily be dealt with via a strongly worded
message-- as was done here by someone in a later incident a couple of days
ago. A few well worded private messages to a spammer would have much more
effect than the redundant ramblings that we've been subjected to on the
List. The intent of bashers is not to chase away spammers, as they would
like you to believe-- It's the equivalent of a 2-year old throwing a temper
tantrum to attract attention.
