I went to my first Futures conference since joining this list. This list is
better, but it is fun to see people live (and get out of the house once in a
while). This conference seemed to be more sparsely attended than others I
have been to. I don't know if that is a trend or not.
I saw Neal Weintraub and went to his session. He gave some good insights
into what is really happening on the floor. This was helpful information for
people like me, who have never been floor traders. Before his session
formally started, he was showing a great documentary video on what the 20's
were like before the crash. It was very interesting.
The Omega Man, Trader "J"oe Krutsinger was also there. I said "Hi" to him
and thanked him for his code contributions to the list. I didn't go to his
session this time since I had been to a previous one.
I also saw the ever-friendly Chuck LeBeau. Good man.
And I saw Andy Abraham and realized that I had met him about a year and a
half ago. He was promoting his Trend Rider indicator. It is an interesting
indicator that actually correlates quite well with two other indicators that
I have. He has an article in the September, 1998 TASC, page 38. Good
article.
I was looking forward to meeting the enigmatic Mark Brown, but Neal
Weintraub tipped him off that Bill Cruz wasn't coming, so he didn't come.
At future events that any of us might attend, a meeting place for omegalist
members should be decided on so we can meet each other. There may have been
more list members there, but I didn't know them.
The software I was most impressed with at the show (Omega didn't show
because of the hurricane in Miami) was CQG and Advanced GET. CQG has done a
good job of getting many key third party software systems working with them.
It is just sooo expensive. Does anybody on the list use Advanced GET? It
sure seems like it would be an excellent complement to any other system you
have. One of the things I am most looking forward to in TS5 is Advanced GET.
Anybody else there that I missed? Other comments about Futures West.
