To answer the question you asked, go to
StarMenu/Settings/TaskBar/StartMenuPrograms and click Advanced.  This will
take you to the Explorer.  All Desktop Icons and StartMenu programs are
stored in the Profiles folder.  You should see a Folder with your name on
it, one for Administrator, and one for All Users.  Look in the
StartMenu/Programs/Startup Folder under each of these.  Right click on each
icon found and click Properties.  This will show you the path and program
for the icon.  If you find an icon to the program that is missing, you can
delete the icon.
