Should I add:- time consuming, inefficient, not thought out completely...?
This is an over-simplified process that can take the better part of a
weekend!
And, if you wait for the weekend to do it, you will also need to download
all the
missing data for the 3 days (assuming that all of it will be available).
If you data file is large (like mine ~400 MB), you can NOT copy out the
whole
data at once. (You can try, and after an overnight wait you will end up with
an error message- (approx.) "Not enough space to complete operation..."
with no trace of any files created. The process terminates at the
compression
to .omz file, the files are deleted BEFORE the misleading error poops up!
It does NOT matter how much free space you have! same error happens with
6GB of free space!
So you have to baby sit this copy out process all night (or wait for the
weekend)
copying out 2-3 months worth of data at a time, waiting ~2 hrs for each
step.
Very entertaining...
Now, what is wrong with the following steps?
1) close all Omega applications
2) open off-line server
3) press File | Delete... menu.
4) select for date range 12/31/98-12/31/98 for dates
5) select add-all | enter (the data will be deleted)
6) reboot the system
7) restart TS.
