There is so much MISS INFORMATION going around on this list that I want to puke. Version 5 current Beta is Y2K compliant. Period end of story. We dont have a patch for 4.0 so we a few options: 1. Wait till it does come out 2. Upgrade to 5.0 3. Find another software package. Those are the options lets stop bitching and pick one. Now as for the post below Omega has been working on the new server since Fall of 1986. This is the truth the only truth period end of discussion. I helped spec it out, saw the pre alpha versions way back when. I have no knowledge of them trying to buy the uniserv but it does not suprise me as I it would be a smart business move.

Here is the whole story : I will try and be impartial here... he he he!
Omega sat around on their can. They were going to use the same old server up until recently. I would
have you recall around the time the Window on WallStreet product came out. That was also about the
time some persistent fellow was bitchin about the symbol universe being screwed up. Only then did
their focus shift from using the existing server to using one like UniServ. So they really are copy
kats up to this point. Playing catch up to the field. They spent too much time counting IPO moneys.
Anyway they decided if a one man shop like Kent could do a server then they would just knock off his
and do their own. Well we know how component they are, but they don't so now they have this server
that is a hacked copy of the version 2 UniServ. Well it aint y2000 complaint and it was unknown to
them that it was being totally revamped by Kent. It is going to have un believable features in the
version 3 that TradeLab http://sciapp.com works on. Back to the story, only a few months ago this
all came down on them when pressure from some crazed ex omega solution provider came at them. They
scrambled for a server, confident that they would just buy Kent out. Kent being a high standard
individual was in negotiations with them to sell out. But a little crazy trader who filled Kent in
on the sad state of affairs of omega, squirreled that deal single handily. That is omega wanted to
hog the UniServ just for themselves and leave a growing number of applications out in the cold. Kent
wouldn't here of it when this was found out, and believing that TradeLab would be a super fine
program. Kent choose wisely to go with them. Now back in FL. poor ole rich boys are needing a
server. They will never have the DTN ability they promised and they will never meet a deadline that
they promised. I need to look up the word," promised " maybe it means different things in different
languages?
