When the original Y2K patch commitment was made, the release schedule for TS/SC5
was early 2Q 98. At the time I commented that I did not expect to see a Y2K
patch until 1-2Q 99. This allowed for 1 quarter slip in TS/SC5 release, 2
quarters for the developers to stabilize TS/SC5 (Omega does not have a good
track record with initial releases and I don't think they'll spend much time on
TS/SC4 Y2K while fighting fires), and 1 quarter to write, test and debug the
patch. Of course some on this list roundly criticized me for exaggerating the
time required. However, current release is scheduled for early 4Q (1 quarter
later than I assumed) so I would not expect to see a Y2K patch until 2Q-3Q 99.
