Tim,

Are you using a spreadsheet to do this?

I had never thought about using a spreadsheet to look at system performance
from a rhythm method point of view. Have you found that using a spreadsheet
to calculate rhythm method swing highs/swing lows improves overall system
performance? I would think that creating a scatter plot that displays the
return of every trade by rhythm method swing could be helpful in optimizing
entry/exit timing. (Plotted in the same way as the scatter plots shown in
Sweeny's discussion of Maximum Adverse Excursion in "Campaign Trading" in
that chapter called....hmmmm, oh yes, "How bad does it get.")

I guess I'm a little confused here. From your previous notes, I had
understood that yours was a more discretionary approach. The use of a
spreadsheet implies to me that your approach has evolved toward reliance on
signals generated by a mechanical system. If you've perfected (or merely
come close to optimizing) an algorithm for generating entry/exit signals
based on a set of rhythm method spreadsheet formulas, I'd certainly be
interested in getting more information about that spreadsheet or or even
buying it.

I guess I'm also interested in understanding how you maintain the level of
intensity about the markets that you do. As I remember it, you're in
Chicago; and from the timestamp on your note, I see that even though the
markets had been closed yesterday for an hour or two, you were still focused
on learning more to perfect your techniques. I find that my mind wanders
off to other topics immediately after the market close...
