I do that sometimes to see the effect of overnight data. I have
end-of-day TS and I use Bridge end of day data. Most of my data is in a
Bridge directory and I can plot charts directly from that without having
the server do anything except be running. However, if i want to change
a bad data point or add a theoretical point this is what i do:
If the symbol is not set up yet:
I go to portfolio and set up a symbol in the offline server. I ignore
the complaints that the symbol doesnt' follow "symbol building rules"
and isn't found in the symbol universe. When the server says
downloading from the CD i say cancel.
To import the data from the directory where i have the end-of-day data:
I highlight the symbol in the directory I go to import data. I pick
the Bridge data format; it shows me a list of symbols in the bridge
directory and i pick the appropriate one; it shows a confirmations
screen with the source and target symbols and then imports.
[unfortunately this must be done one symbol at a time; it would be nice
if it remembered the source/target pairs] You would do this once per
day, at the end of the day probably.
To add a theoretical point or edit one:
On the portfolio screen, i go to "edit daily" after highlighting the
symbol. A screen listing recent data will be shown. Press either add
or edit and the entry boxes appear.
To see the theretical point.
Altho i think the indicator values and closing prices, etc. in the
"data lines" on the graph reflect the new data, the bar will not show if
the bar is for today's date (if the markets are still open) or a later
date. If you wish to see today's bar that you just created before the
market closes, the best way is to advance you computer's date, then the
bar will show.
During the day you could go to the "portfolio, edit daily, edit" sceen
and change the close (and hi/lo if needed) and see the affect of new
price levels.
I have not tried this but if you had, say, a 30 min. chart, you might be
able to enter 30 min. bars by hand and run a system that way. But it'd
be pretty awkward, particularly if you were following more than one
market. I was told once that an upgrade to the realtime edition is
$500.
