Although I agree strongly that Volume (and perhaps breadth) are very
important, I would caution you that TRIN is an illogical mathematical
formulation. As such, it frequently distorts the very information you'd
like to get.

Although I'm not much of a fan of Tushar Chande, his explanation of what's
wrong with TRIN is valuable; see "The New Technical Trader," Chande &
Kroll, Wiley, 1994. He proposes a different construction that uses the same
components and that is far more solid mathematically.

TRIN has the advantage that it is disseminated throughout the day (history
reigns supreme). However, you'll get a lot farther if you use the
underlying components to calculate a replacement.
