This may explain some of the quality control problems with Omega software. To
those of us with software backgrounds, alpha is a product with features and
source under development and beta is a product where features and source code
are locked down except for bug fixes. The lockdown during beta phase is
absolutely essential to prevent introducing new bugs as a result of feature and
code changes - it's hard enough to control the new bugs introduced by beta bug
fixes.

This may be true for other companies, but not for Omega Research.
My previous beta experiences (and the current one with TS5 beta) shows that
they add new features from a beta to the next one, and that the final version
(official release) was very different of what was proposed from the first beta
version (closer of the previous official version than the final next one).
