There a number of excellent books on system design and testing: if you
get any of the standard Trader's Press type catalogs, look for works by
Bob Pardo, Bruce Babcock, Tushar Chande, or Perry Kaufmann. They are all
uniformly excellent sources of ideas and approaches, and probably any
one of them could provide you with the basics. Bruce Babcock also has a
website, which besides promoting the systems he sells, also provides
some useful information for mechanical systems traders.
