There has been much talk on this list about WOW's DayTrader and much
interest.
Well I am now doing a 30-day trial of the application and if people
are interested in how it compares to TS 4.0, I'll try to make regular
postings of what I find - both good and bad. Also be aware that I'm
a DAYtrader and I'm looking at it from the point of what a daytrader
needs.
I'll start in this e-mail and try to title all subsequent emails
similarly, so if you don't want to hear about it, you can just set
your mail filter to trash them.
First let me say that I use e-mail for tech support and the response
time has been about 2 hours. While I have answers back from WOW, I'm
still waiting on answers from omega sent significantly earlier.
I also welcome comments if you notice that I've made a mistake or
missed something as I'm not a TS expert.
So, here we go:
News filter is much nicer. They can handle boolean queries. Also,
the news can be set up to have a Windows-Explorer interface and I
find that easier to work with.
They have symbol groups which work on intraday data (as opposed to
Omega Custom Data Lists which don't). I can also pull in symbol
groups from ascii text files.
They have a data window that resides next to the chart and moves with
the chart so you don't have to keep moving it around to see your
chart.
I haven't been able to figure out how to just type the symbol and it
pop up on your current chart.
As far as I know, they don't have historical intraday data that I can
Paste-In (omega calls it "refresh data")
The news filter will only allow you to filter on the entire text of
the news, not just the headlines. Unfortunately, this can bring up a
lot of crap.
More later...
