at the time I had it (oct96-feb97) you had to have direct phone line 
and they did NOT offer internet - they do in the meantime

a DIRECT phone line in the pit - as you describe - can NOT be 
slower for trading !!!

I see pros + cons :

~ listening to the noise level - develop "feel" for the market

~ internet !!! delay / crash / security .... whatever

~ better bookkeeping through electronic fills and documentation 

...sure there are more

yes, but I had problems with the direct phone line aswell - line 
down, line interruptions.

its cheaper - thats the ONLY one

I returned the machine as for having too many problems with it 
(besides my trades <g>) - AND  if it has not changed cosiderable I 
do NOT rrecommend it
