How to determine a bar number.

I have a couple questions I was wondering if anyone could help me out 
with in easy language.

I am using intraday server data, on a 1 minute chart.

1st question:
In easy language, I need to know the bar number of the first bar of
the day for the date that is returned when I use the reserved word
DATE.

2nd Question:
How can I get the BarNumber for a bar with a specific date that I
specify.  For example: Today is 2/16/98 and I have a 1 min. intraday
chart for a 20 day period.  How can I find the bar number of the bar
that ends at 12:33pm on 2/2/98?
