Sir,
The following document should assist you in that task:

How can I make My Data File smaller in TradeStation 4.0

There are times your data file may get too large for your computer. If this
happens, there are a few steps you can take to remedy the problem. This process
takes you through copying out data for only the symbols you want to keep,
deleting the data file and then pasting the copied out data back into the
program.

Note: Only the data you copy out will be kept. The other data you do not copy
out will be lost.

In this way, only the size of the copied out file will be the size the your new
data file. It is very important that you realize that if you are running low on
disk space, the copied out file will also take up a good size amount of space
depending on the amount of symbols and number of days you are copying out.

Take the following steps to reduce your file size:

1. In the Omega Server click FILE - COPY OUT.

2. Type in a path and filename for the data you are copying out.

3. Add all of the symbols you want to copy out from the left side to the right.

4. Type in the start date and the end date for the data you are copying out.
If you want to copy out
more days for some symbols than others, you will have to do the process more
than once.

5. Click OK.

The copying out process will begin. You will notice a dialog box on your
screen. The dialog box will remain on the screen until the copying out process
is over.

Once the file has been copied out, please do the following:

1. Exit the Omega Server and Windows completely.

2. At the DOS prompt type the following, depending on the datafeed you are
using:

For Signal type CD\Omega\server\sig and press <enter>

At the prompt, type DEL 40Sig.dat and press <enter>
At the prompt, type DEL 40Sig.idx and press <enter>
At the prompt, type DEL 40Sig5.dat and press <enter>
At the prompt, type DEL 40Sig5.idx and press <enter>

For Bonneville type CD\Omega\server\btc and press <enter>

At the prompt, type DEL 40BONN.dat and press <enter>
At the prompt, type DEL 40BONN.idx and press <enter>
At the prompt, type DEL 40BONN5.dat and press <enter>
At the prompt, type DEL 40BONN5.idx and press <enter>

For Comstock type CD\Omega\server\csk and press <enter>

At the prompt, type DEL 40CMSTK.dat and press <enter>
At the prompt, type DEL 40CMSTK.idx and press <enter>
At the prompt, type DEL 40CMSTK5.dat and press <enter>
At the prompt, type DEL 40CMSTK5.idx and press <enter>

Once you have followed these instructions and the files have been deleted,
please do the following:

1. Go back into Windows and start the Omega Server.

2. Click FILE - PASTE IN.

3. Select the directory where the file you copied out resides.

4. Click the Custom Paste button.

At this point the data should be pasted into the Omega Server and you should
have your new smaller data file.

If you would like to lessen the size of the data file, but keep the other data
that is not very significant to you and not delete it, you can copy out a number
of symbols at a time and archive those files on floppy. Then, whenever you want
to look at the data again, you can paste the data back in from the floppies,
just realize you will have to have that symbol in the portfolio when you attempt
to paste back in.

Thank you for choosing Omega Research.

Subject: tick files

<<File: ENVELOPE.TXT>>
Hi,

I am currently working only with omz files.

I deleted the 8/12/96 stock tick file using file delete.

I still have the daily omz stock data for August 1996.

After deleting the tick file the 40sig.dat file did not decrease in size.
(it is currently 147,000,000 bytes).

How do I get the 40sig.dat file to decrease in size to reflect removal of the
tick data?

Thank you,

Vitas
