I would humbly suggest that Omega look into the copy protection and
licensing policies of Autodesk. I use their AutoCAD product which is, in
many ways, similar to Tradestation. It's a specialized, low-volume,
high-priced program. There are essentially three versions.

AutoCAD professional - $2800 - full featured - NO copy protection -
     license can be legally transferred
AutoCAD student - $500 - full featured - uses a dongle - no license
transfer - can upgrade to pro version
AutoCAD LT - $500 - limited features, retail version - no copy
     protection - license transfer allowed

I (and most professional drafters) am willing to pay a considerable
premium to not have to deal with copy protection. Autodesk long ago
discovered that their bottom line increased if they removed copy
protection from the professional version. I believe that the same is
true of professional traders. Most would be willing to pay a
considerable premium for a non-copy-protected program. So, using the
above model, the three products could be:

TradeStation Pro - more $$ - no copy protection - transfer allowed
TradeStation - less $$ - copy protected - no transfer - can upgrade to
     Pro version
SuperCharts - still less $$ - no copy protection - transfer allowed

SuperCharts would be sold through retail outlets and the two versions of
TradeStation would be sold direct. End result... happy customers and
more profits for Omega. Customers would be given the choice to pay more
money for a product that does not have the restrictions which many
consider to be unreasonable.

My $.02...
