You're absolutely right, Rod.  Not my day I guess.  Users would probably want 24 bit
generally - for instance, image files are generally 24 bit.  However, you certainly
wouldn't need this with TS.  On the other hand, you still would probably want a lot of
video RAM, especially if you're using larger monitors - so you'll end up with this
capability anyway.
