If cable is your own option, you might want to consider using DBC Signal
since they transmit over more cable channels than any other vendor. If you
have a problem with one channel (with commercials) you can always try
another as opposed to switching vendors.
On the issue of outage during commercials, the situation is this:
You will get an outage ONLY if "local" commercials come on - national
commercials don't make any difference. It therefore makes no difference
what company bought or ownsTBS. The issue is this: Does your particular
cable company insert their own local commercials into a commercial break,
or not??
One TBS user in one part of the country can be fine, while another can be
totally messed up. It all depends on your local cable company. If they do
it, it is usually at the end of the commercial break for about 60 seconds.
Your feed will go totally dead during this time period, making it
impossible to use. Watch each of the cable channels that the data vendors
use, during the commercial break, and wait for close to the end of the
break: Do you see any ads for local Mom & Pop pizza place, insurance broker
etc. or NOT???
That's the question to ask. My understanding is that the local cable
companies choose to insert their local ads on certain channels but not
others. This is what you have to find out ...
