Just to further obfuscate things, the Omega (.ORD) format stores dates as a
signed long integer (day) offset from a base date (if memory servese me
correctly it's 1/1/1900) while the Equis data format (thru MsW 6.0 - I don't
know if this changed in 6.5 but would bet it did not) uses an antiquated
form of single float called Microsoft Binary Format replaced many years ago
by the IEEE standard single float. The Omega format is capable of storing
dates through approximately 2030 while the Equis format is dead on 12/31/99.
No matter the format, neither current Omega or Equis software is capable of
converting downloaded/imported/keyed data for dates beyond 12/31/99. The
Omega software will properly store imported/keyed data for dates near the
beginning of this century while the Equis format will not. The Omega
software will not cope with weeks ending on Saturday - my weekly data which
goes back to 1920's had to converted from W/E Saturday to W/E Friday before
it could be imported or displayed.
