That depends on what caused the problem.  In some cases where the problem
was not due to hard disk failure the data on both drives will be affected. 
However, in others where the problem was due to a hard disk controller card,
a disk cable, or a power supply, and where those components are not common
to both drives, the data on one drive may be unaffected.

Mirroring drives doesn't guaranty there never will be data loss.  It only
improves the odds.  The more independent two mirrored drives can be made 
(different power supplies, different controller cards, different physical
locations in different computers, etc.), the greater the potential benefit
becomes.
