I just recently had to reinstall. Here are instructions on how to reinstall Metastock!!! They came from Equis 

Lets close out of your whole machine to start with. Since you have already tried to run the install, you proabably have multiple setups running in the background

Once its shut down and restarted:

Right click on your start button and choose Explore. 

Go to C:\Program Files and right click on the Equis folder and choose rename to Equisold, then close this pop up box.

Go to your Start menu and type in regedit in the Start Search bar.

Open the registry editor and go into the HKEY_CURRENT USER > Software and delete the Equis folder if it is here.

Then go ahead and put your disk in

Click on Setup and let it get stuck where it was getting before.  Let it just sit there

Open up your Task Manager (Alt+CTRL+DELETE) and click on Open Task Manager

Click on the processes tab

dont end any startup or setups or Explore

I would start ending the ones that have my user name by it first, but you cant really hurt anything. Once you end the one that is blocking the install, the install will resume.

This should fix your issue.
