Windows 7 does have a compatibility tab (at least in the pro version)
and MetaStock 9.1 installs and works fine. I use 2000 compatibility (it
goes back to Windows 95). Actually, I only bought Windows 7 to make sure
my MetaStock plug-in and breadth data downloader had no install and running
problems. They don't, even without compatibility options.
Windows 7 seems to be a very good release.
The main change for programmers seems to be that it is difficult,
without a lot of effort, to read and particularly write configuration
files to the "Program Files" directory after the
initial installation. Instead, Windows 7 uses a new directory for
that purpose called "ProgramData". That is the main reason, it
seems, that many older programs become incompatible.with Windows 7 (and often
Vista).

Re:Metastock 9.0 & Windows 7
I
can't say I have specifically tried Metastock and 7. However, I do have a very
expensive piece of software which costs well over 1500 USD to upgrade for little
benefit except that it was vista compatible. One couldn't even get it to
install. Thus stayed with 2000 for this. However, I currently run this under
windows 7 without any problems at all. I'd give it a try.
