I am loading "Indices & Indicators" and "Stocks grouped by Sector" I get approx 8500 symbols. I have been using these to do sector and stock analysis with Fire add on.
My internet connection is DSL and everything seems to run pretty fast in comparison (loading pages etc). The real slowdown comes when the last portion of the update occurs (I believe this is after the download occurs).
I will try a defrag to see if it helps.

The number of symbols is around 10,000 and what seems to be taking the most time is the portion of the update called "Building Collection Report" (last part of the process). I have attempted to turn off Norton Antivirus to see if that was slowing the process and it does not seem to have any effect.
