hi all, just a thought since i bought a new computer recently
i'm not running Metastock with any realtime feed at present so don't
know how it performs on the new computer
i'm using NinjaTrader which has higher computer requirements than
MS v 8 and NT works well
i purchased an Intel Dual Core E5200 2.5GHz cpu with 3GB DDR ram
160GB SATA hard drive etc from genericcomputer.com a local builder
here in Vancouver, Canada for $430 incl taxes
it came installed accidentally with a serviced 320GB Seagate drive
rather than a new 160GB
after exchanging the drives i noticed a difference in performance,
that extra snap seemed to be missing with the 160 installed which
may have been the drives, but i think has to do with the buffer size,
the 320 has 16gb vs 8 for the 160
i'd have exchanged the 160 for a 320 but couldn't be bothered - i'd had
to wait for a new 160 to be ordered and didn't want to go through all
the waiting, uninstalling - reinstalling again
anyway my recommendation is for the larger hard drive size in order
to obtain as much buffer as possible, presuming the other specs are
also up to speed, there's little cost difference and tho the drive size
may seem overly large it can be partitioned
