If the directory is missing the MASTER file then it has become an invalid folder. Critical files are missing. You should either restore a known good backup or contact your data vendor to get a replacement of your data.

An addenda to my previous post. I noticed that the directory in
question contains EMASTER, but neither XMASTER or MASTER files. My
other data directories contain all three.
