BarsSince() requires an active (TRUE) event before it will plot on a chart. The same applies to an exploration. Without an event to trigger from all you'll get is an N/A result.
Cum() counts events but cannot function unless the expression being accumulated is valid (not N/A).
There are a range of techniques that can help ensure explorations and charts using these functions always return a result. Those techniques usually need to be consistent with the main thrust of what you're trying to achieve.

Is there a time period/number of bars the above subject functions can
go back in history ie Using those functions in the explorer or
indicator builder they fail to recoginise 2 or years back data on a
