I hope this Catscan turns out to be better than other scan versions - all
they ever seem to find is dogs. :)

More about the Catscan system here:

Read below about the Catscan author discovering the effect of curve-
fitting, all this after more than 10 years of system development and sales:

-----------------------------------------------------------

"But back to Catscan 3 Plus. It passed my grueling tests. We released it.
Then something went wrong. It lost money. It kept losing money. I said it
must just be in drawdown. After all, every system that has ever been
invented has drawdown periods. Every system that ever will be invented
will also have drawdown periods. But it kept losing money. Finally I had
to face reality. Something was wrong with the Catscan 3 Plus system. I did
test after test. The tests said this was no normal drawdown period. For
one thing it was lasting way too long. And it was too large. And too
consistent.

It Hit Me Like A Bolt Of Lightning

Then I counted the rules and parameters of Catscan 3 Plus. It hit me like
a bolt of lightning. I was staring at an over-optimized trading system.
Me, the system developer who is paranoid about optimization had just
committed the most insidious of crimes. I had inadvertently over-optimized
a system.

The next 6 months were a flurry of changes and tests for the Catscan
system. At first I just cut out the new rules. Then I got curious. My son
sometimes listens to a music group called "Bare naked ladies". Just how
far could I go in stripping (de-optimizing) Catscan? I chopped out another
rule. Tests looked good. In fact it looked a lot better. I chopped out
another rule. Tests looked good. I chopped out another rule. It didn't get
better but it didn't get worse either. I flushed it down the trading
system rule toilet. Now I was rolling. I slashed another rule. Tests still
looked good. Can you hear the sound of "flush"? Soon I got to the point
that it actually had fewer rules and less optimized parameters than the
original Catscan system. This was a bare naked system. I knew I was done.
It was the pure essence of the Catscan concept and nothing more. It got a
name: Catscan 4."

I think I'll skip Ramona v2 & v3 - Ramona IV sounds good to me. ;)
