Manually change the Time Periods to Load to 3000, add the appropriate folder of securities if not already listed in the folders window, and click the Calculate button. When that's completed drop the "DeBry ERSA External Relative Strength" indicator onto a chart from the selected folder and verify that the ERSA ranking file is available for the set number of bars less "Time Periods in RS Calculation" setting. If that was set to 250 you'd expect an ERSA plot of 2750 EOD bars, assuming that there was at least 3000 bars of data available and loaded.
ERSA files are simply text files that can be opened by any word processor and the dates and data contained therein checked that way. However, it's probably much easier to check by dropping down the above indicator. The DLL takes care of delivering the right information to each chart or called security.

Subject: [EquisMetaStock Group] Histrical Testing in SpyGlass
Dear Sirs:
I'm trying to back test 20 years of data using ERSA; however, I cannot
get the explorer nor the system tester to recognize the ExtFml
("ERSA.ExternalRelativeStrength"). It will only go back in time 125
periods-unless I manually change that figure.
I wish to buy the top 10 stocks in the SP100 each quarter, i.e., each
quarter I want to reallocate my account so that I'm always in the top
ten. One tenth of my account should always be in one of the ten stocks.
Any suggestions would greatly be appreciated!
Eric
PS. Must I always run the first simulation in SpyGlass or is there a
say for me to supersede that step?
