M - C:
Detrending is simply removing the long-term trend from
a time series. To so this, simply write an indicator
which subtacts a longer term moving average from the
price. For example, c-mov(c,250,s) will result in a
oscillator above and below 0 but is anything but
smooth.
Like you, I'm interested in knowing how others are
using this indicator. Currently, I use the close
minus a volume weighted moving average. Significant
drops below 0 reveal "mispricing" or "value areas"
since price is at levels singnificantly below the
average price where most people bought (as measured by
volume). The opposite condition indicates
"overpricing" or "lack of value."
Again, comments on how others use the indicator would
be welcomed by me. Hope this helps.
