MetaStock's Ref() function only deals with available data bars, so
for example on EOD charts, Ref(C,-5) references the Close of a week
ago (7 days), or even further back if there are missing data bars in
the interim.
For actual days reference lookback, try this indicator from
http://www.metastocktools.com/#metastock :
"Calendar day Ref() - similar to MetaStock's standard Ref() function,
uses x calendar days (from last day) for lookback."
