This how to convert nse bhava copy to MS
Nse bhava copy has 11 rows namely,
1) SYMBOL
2) SERIES
3) OPEN
4) HIGH
5) LOW
6) CLOSE
7) LAST
8) PREVCLOSE
9) TOTTRDQTY
10) TOTTRDVAL
11) TIMESTAMP
Or as this::
SYMBOL SERIES OPEN HIGH LOW CLOSE LAST PREVCLOSE TOTTRDQTY TOTTRDVAL TIMESTAMP
Each row is labeled from A to K
In row B delete all EQ (by deleting all the EQ's, both symbols and name will be same after import .Names can be changed from the downloader. It will not affect later imports)
Right click on row G and press delete
Right click on row H and press delete
Right click on row J and press delete
Right click on row K press cut, then right row C and press "insert cut cells”.
After doing all this arrangement of rows will be as follows
SYMBOL SERIES (row would be empty) TIMESTAMP OPEN HIGH LOW CLOSE TOTTRDQTY
Now change the first line as follows
<ticker> <name> <date> <open> <high> <low> <close> <volume>
That is what initially looked as
SYMBOL SERIES OPEN HIGH LOW CLOSE LAST PREVCLOSE TOTTRDQTY TOTTRDVAL TIMESTAMP
would look as
<ticker> <name> <date> <open> <high> <low> <close> <volume>
Right click on C, press format cells .Under number click date .On right hand side various date types will be displayed. Click on some thing like 03/14/01 (that is date format will be
Month/day/year.
Please note that this is the only format which will work if you want to import data successfully in to MS. It does not matter which date format you might be using for your computer in general .You can change the date format for your computer from "regional and language" in control panel)
Click saves. When prompted for confirmation please click yes.
Please note that this bhava copy is already in .CSV format.
Leave it as it is.
If by any chance some one by mistake has it converted in excel worksheet format, change it to .CSV format as follows.
Go to file>save as> from "save as type" choose "CSV Comma delimited”, then press save
Excel will now ask you that do you really want to save because saving in this file type will be not compatible with this and that and so on. Please press yes.
Exit excel. Again it will ask you some thing. This time click no.
Nse bhava copy has been successfully converted to MS.
