I checked in with support at QuotesPlus - they report that "Most of the
fundamental data in the QP database is current only. We have historical Qtr
Rev and Qtr EPS, but that's it.". So can't be used for backtesting.
The AAII info is more interesting - would it be possible to maintain an
automatically updatable fundamental database in csv format based on their
data? I'll email them, but I'd be interested if anyone has any experience.

If you really want fundamental data, I don't think you can beat AAII's Stock
Investor Pro. Is updated weekly. Can output data, but not in Metastock
format.
Another choice is Quotes Plus. They provide fundamental, in addition to
prices. Can automatically put into Metastock format, and also get a program
called Stock Picker Pro, which lets you do lots of sorting/ranking with the
fundamental data.
