Wallace, some DLLs do (work for MetaStock v7.2+), and some don't.
Just like with MetaStock Formula code, there is solid DLL code out
there that is built with reliability and compatibility for MS v8.0+ in
mind, and then there are other DLLs that cause nothing but trouble.
I expect a wave of DLL-based MetaStock grief soon, now that everyone
and his dog can put a MS dll together with the MetaStock Developer's
Kit.
