As Maurice has already indicated, this problem seems to appear when Win XP Service Pack 2 is installed. My experience with all versions of MetaStock and the DownLoader, including MS 6.52, has been that setting the Compatibility mode to Windows 2000 fixes the problem.

 

Unfortunately this does not appear to work for everyone, but it has worked for me.

I installed Metastock 6.52 on a Windows XP SP2 system. All the setup
performs normally but when I try to open a file the program just quits
immediatelly. Do you know if there's a solution to this specific
